Another Pats/Saints Recap

Written by Deborah Horton on .

Last night was the official kick off of my NFL season.  While I do like the Falcons as they are the team of my youth, my all time favorite football team is the Patriots.  I looooooooove watching the Patriots.  Last night, the boys were back.

The Patriots took the preseason win over the Saints 27-24.  Tom Brady looked great as always.  The running back corps looked fabulous spreading the wealth around.  The receiving corps looked equally good.  My one disappointment was that Welker did not play.  I will not feel comfortable about the Patriots season until Welker is in a game running routes and making plays.  Until then, I’m still holding my breath on his recovery.  The first team Pats had the Saints beat and beat badly, but the second team let them claw their way back into the game.

I have high hopes for the Patriots this year.  My high hopes all hinge on a healthy Welker.  If he is fully recovered and he can be the force he was before his injury, then the Patriots have every shot in the world to go back to the Super Bowl and win it.  Until I see Welker running routes and making catches in a game, I can’t feel good about these hopes.  For now though, the boys are back and I’m so excited.
